Enterprise Jesus Jam Festival 2007
(June 16)

The Jesus Jam Festival in Enterprise on June 16, 2007,was a great success. Love In Action held the event
in the Baptist Hill Community, which is an impoverished area that was hit hard by the tornado. Not as
many people live in this area as they did before the March 1 tornado leveled many of their houses.
Love In Action has been conducting disaster relief work in this community since the tornado hit. The
ministry has helped clean up debris, put blue tarps on roofs, provided food and hygiene items, and
prayed with the people since March 1. Love In Action wanted to provide a day of fun in a loving atmosphere,
and that's what occurred on June 16. The community turned out for a day of Christian music, games, food, and
fellowship. Three churches joined Love In Action - The Potter's House from Enterprise, Ala., Heritage
Baptist from Montgomery, Ala., and Southside Baptist from Ozark, Ala. Love In Action President Mike
Shroades preached and about 10-15 people responded to the invitation to accept Jesus as their Lord and
Savior and to rededicate their lives to Jesus. People also came forward for prayer that God will give them
strength to rebuild their lives. Following the service, everyone enjoyed a lunch of fried catfish, hotdogs, french
fries, homemade pound cake and lemonade. Children enjoyed games throughout the day, and the adults
fellowshiped in the shade of a couple of pecan trees spared by the tornado. Hygiene items were also distributed.

Love In Action Vice President Ken Tuck cooks catfish (left photo) while other LIA volunteers prepare to take the food over to the serving line. Gene Cody of Heritage Baptist Church of Montgomery (wearing the red shirt) helped Ken and his wife Martha (pictured in right photo wearing hat) cook catfish and french fries throughout the afternoon. All total, they cooked 75 pounds of catfish, 30 pounds of fries and 100 hotdogs.

The adults from the Baptist Hill Community enjoyed the catfish dinner under the shade of a pecan tree. The temperature was near 100 degrees, so everyone was thankful that the tornado did not blow over that tree.
