Love In Action on the move

This is a panoramic photo of Love In Action's building at 279 W. Main St. in downtown Dothan. It's about 7,000 square feet.

Love In Action's new international headquarters is located at 279 W. Main St., Ste. 2, in downtown Dothan.

This is Suite 6 at Love In Action, which will house many of our ministries like showers, laundry, clothing and food for the homeless, and Discipleship.

The past 13 years has been a great adventure as God has continuously molded and shaped Love In Action into the ministry He wants us to be. For the past two years, God called us into a season of ministering to a community in downtown Dothan that needed to know God still loves them. It's a section of the inner city where no one was reaching out to the people. LIA is not a church, but for the past two years we've had to fill the void of a church in this community, and we have seen God do great things at our building at 320 N. Foster. Nearly nine months ago, The Harbor Church started meeting in our ministry center. Pastor Dwight Deal and their members have a heart to reach that very community. We have been turning some ministries over to them, so they can further connect with the people. First, it was the Friday night coffee house, and then the Saturday Adopt-A-Block outreach. Two weeks ago we signed a contract to sell our ministry center at 320 N. Foster to The Harbor Church. We are aiming for July 1 as the closing date. We are very excited about this, because now the community will have a loving church to minister to their needs and we can get back to where our heart is truly at, and that's outreach.

We will now be able to focus on our building at 279 W. Main St. in downtown Dothan that we purchased a year ago. Through this 7,000 square feet of buildings, and nearly 1 acre of land, a lot of great ministry and outreach will take place, and already does. This is where the Samaritan Clinic is located. Every Thursday night our volunteer medical staff treats the homeless, women from House of Ruth and inmates from Houston County Community Corrections Work Release for basic health care, dental, eye and podiatry.

This is also where we will have transitional housing for the homeless. We will have a discipleship program that will keep them in the Word of God, because following Jesus is the key. Through the transition program we will also teach them life skills and work them to obtain a job. From there we will teach them how to budget their money. By the time they finish, they will have money for a down payment for their own apartment or house, deposit for utilities and money saved to give them a head start as they re-enter society living for Jesus Christ. We are really excited about the transitional housing. This will be an answer to a long-time prayer. We have worked with the homeless for 13 years, and to know we will be providing transitional housing for them in the near future is exciting.

'I feel so much love'

LIA Pastor Ken Tuck with Heather and Roy.

The highlight of our day on Saturday, May 18, was meeting and showing the love of Jesus to these two precious homeless people - Roy and Heather. With tears in their eyes, they said they felt so loved and repeatedly thanked us for helping them. Jesus says what we have done to the least of these we have done unto Him. We thank God for the opportunity to serve Him. We want to thank LIA volunteers Rick Denney, Jonathan Ellis and Bryan Cole for helping love on these two precious souls. Please pray for them as they travel to Florida. They are traveling on the bus with smiles on their faces and in their hearts because of Jesus. And they enjoyed some delicious Goldfingers chicken and chips before leaving. Thanks Goldfingers for helping us serve the homeless and hungry like Roy and Heather. This is how the Body of Christ should work. Praise God!

Close to drilling for water in Haiti

Our Haitian brothers and sisters in Christ praying for Jesus to bring them water.
They are gathered below the spot Give Us Hope Mission wants to drill a well.
Please keep praying and donating to the well fund.

Thanks to people praying and giving financially, we are close to drilling for fresh water in Montrious, Haiti. Give Us Hope Mission will be back in Haiti at the end of this month, and we hope to begin drilling for water then. Give Us Hope Mission is part of Love In Action International Ministries. We are working with Blue Ridge Drilling Company, and they will drill 300-feet down to see if they hit water. Let's pray they do so we can get freshwater to the church and school. This will be a huge blessing as now children walk more than 4 miles a day carrying water for bathing, cooking and washing clothes. It's not even safe to drink. We are praying to change this. Please pray with us and please help us by giving a financial gift today and in the memo on your check write Water for Haiti. Every penny given will go to provide this life-giving resource for the people. Please mail your check to: Love In Action International Ministries, P.O. Box 85, Dothan, AL 36302. You may also give online by clicking here and then clicking on the "Make a Donation" button. Once we find the water, then we will put in a filtration system so the people of Montrious can have fresh drinking water right there in their town. What a wonderful blessing that will be, and what an incredible ministry opportunity to lead people to the living water of life - Jesus Christ.

Scholarships for children

Children at the Recognition service at Shiloh Bible Baptist Church in Sindangan, Philippines, this past March.

In the Philippines, school is not guaranteed for every child, because not all families can afford to pay the government for their children to attend school. Many of the churches Love In Action supports in the Philippines have schools. The schools obviously benefit the children from an educational point of view, but it's also a great ministry tool for the church. Parents, friends and family members attend the Recognition services, and that's how many come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. For many, it's the first time they've ever heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Entire families get saved. Praise God!
The next school year begins in June, and Love In Action is conducting a scholarship drive for the children. We are asking if you can give $50, that would help support one child for the school year and provide a bookbag and school supplies..Please send any amount you can for the children's scholarships fund to: Love In Action International Ministries, PO Box 85, Dothan, AL 36302.

Fighting malnutrition

Did you know 30,000 children die every day due to malnutrition and preventable diseases? That's hard to believe, because it isn't constantly in our faces here in the US like it is in Third World nations. Last week we received a heartbreaking report from the Philippines as the baby of one of our pastors died. The baby was born in November with a deformity. It was their second child who was born with a severe medical problem and the second one to die. The reason both times for the deformities and deaths were due to the mother being malnourished. We know these precious indigenous pastors and missionaries in the Philippines. We love them, and it crushes us to hear and see this happen. One way Love In Action helps in the Philippines is supporting our Filipino pastors and missionaries with $100 a month. That small amount of money will feed a family of five for a month, and it works. Unfortunately, we were not able to support our pastor friend whose child died. Can you sponsor one of our pastors for just a $100 a month? Can your small group or church? If you can't give $100 a month, can you give $50 or $25? We can combine support to take care of these precious people. Through them, we are reaching people who have never heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
You can give by sending checks to: Love In Action, PO Box 85, Dothan, AL 36302. You can also give online through PayPal by clicking here and then clicking on the "Make a Donation" button. Please click here for more information about sponsoring families to stop malnutrition and in doing so also reach unreached people groups with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

In need of more Bibles for Philippines

Imagine not having a Bible, and not having any way to get one. That's how it is for our Christian brothers and sisters in the Philippines. We have shipped thousands of Bibles to the Philippines, and we need to continue sending them. If you have any King James Version Bibles you can donate, please do. Or, you can find good deals on KJV Bibles at websites like biblicadirect.com, christianbook.com, or if you live in Dothan, Ala., you can purchase KJV Bibles at Lifeway Christian Bookstore and tell them they are for Love In Action, and they will box them for us and let us know Bibles are waiting for us to pick up. If you order online, you can have them shipped to: Love In Action International Ministries, 279 W. Main St., Ste. 2, Dothan, AL 36301. We need KJV Bibles only, and if you can donate large or giant print KJV Bibles that would be even better.
